but i now understand why everyone walked out of the theatre going, "meh". There really is no excuse for me to have only just seen The 'new' X-Files movie with its shocking title I Want to Believe but ill be honest, i was scared. Scared it was gonna suck so bad that it would ruin the awsomeness that was the show. And although it wasnt frighteningly as bad it could have been, it was however BORING!! Around half way through it i had two questions:
1. When is ole Skinner showing up?
and 2. I wonder if there is any pizza left in the fridge?
Now i have the patience of a saint but it was just that not a great deal happened in this movie, well not enough plot to really bother making a film out of. Would it have made a good episode? Yea sure, but not even a decent 2 parter. Oh wait i suppose i should give u a plot outline. Ok here goes, new FBI agent goes missing, other FBI kids cant find her so who they gonna call MULDER. So he gets to work having within 3 mins completely put to rest the last 2 seasons on the show. He catches the bad guy with the help of a crazy pedophile Catholic priest...yes really?! And has a fight with Scully. The End.
So what din work: The really cheaply made car chases, Skinner showing up 10 mins b4 the film ends, Mulder and Scullys character development since we saw them last, its never a good sign when you want to punch the leading man in the face and Gillian Andersons obvious English accent and the lameest of lame lamo ending.
YET, some things did work: the secondary cast are all spiggin awsome. Amanda Peet and Xibit might have been the exception but Billy Connolly as a crazy priest who has visions and Callum Keith what can i say the man knows how to play a good bad guy.
All in all its not really THAT bad. I think X Files fans have been very forgiving of creator Chris Carter (spot his cameo) in the past so they will let undoubtedly file this movie under 'A for average' and pin their hopes on TXF3.
